The Oakland Library needs some help:

"The mayor and city manager have proposed reducing hours and staffing at busy neighborhood libraries that are currently open 6 days per week; all branches would be open 5 days per week. Other probable cuts include a reduction in the budget for new books, CDs, videos, and other materials."

What you, your credit card, and Amazon can do.

"Buy a book for the Library. Some neighborhood bookstores are keeping lists of titles needed by the library. Buy one of them. Buy two… On Amazon.com, the library has posted a wish list of books that can be purchased. Check with your local librarian for more information."
