11/05/2006 Entry: "The Mayerson California Voter Guide"
The Mayerson-Mostly-Swiped-From-Calitics California Voter Guide (because people have been asking me about it):
Governor - Phil Angelides LOST (not enough Elvis, I guess) (Must've known I was gonna vote for him, so thank you for not inundating my mailbox, Phil.) Lt. Governor - John Garamendi WON(thank you, God) (well... okay) Secretary of State - Debra Bowen SHE FUCKING WON! (sounds a little too good to be true, but we could use a little of that in CA) State Controller - John Chiang WON (who? well... okay) State Treasurer - Bill Lockyer WON (well... okay!) Attorney General - Jerry Brown WON (yay!) (Yay!) Insurance Commisioner - Cruz Bustamente LOST (meh) United States Senate - (blank) or Diane Feinstein WON (If only there were a viable alternative... oh well.) Statewide propositions. Proposition 1A No (Like CA needs more mandates on money it doesn't have.)failed(good) Propositions 1B-1E Yes (or No, I'm sick of bond measures)They all passed Proposition 83 - No (Stupid and expensive)passed Proposition 84 - Yes (or No, I'm still sick of bond measures)passed Proposition 85 - No (Don't pregnant teens have enough stress already?)failed (good) Proposition 86 - Yes (Smokers tax, hell, I quit when they went to $2.25/pack in 1989. And if I can quit...)failed (eh) Proposition 87 - Yes (The oil companies can afford it!)failed(boo) Proposition 88 - No (We have Prop 13 holding down property taxes indiscriminately and now they want to slap a $50 on every parcel indiscriminately and no real oversight on where the money goes or how it's administered, costing how much? We need real tax reform in this state [which is why I'm sick of bonds] before this slippery slope gets slipperyer.)failed(CA still needs tax reform, but no telling how bad the war between the property owners and renters will get before peace returns to our lands) Proposition 89 - Yes (Apparently this will solve EVERYTHING and whiten our teeth, so yes, vote yes. And the argument against it is just silly and insulting [and the CA Chamber of Commerce works for Satan].)failed Proposition 90 - No (Prop 90 is worded in a very misleading way, please read the linked article, it clears it up. GM)failed(this restores my faith that Californians can read) More and Why you might want to vote this way at Calitics. They get a little excited over there; don't make any sudden moves and nobody will get hurt.
Also from Calitics but damn if I can find the link: "Judges: Yes, except William McGuiness, who wrote the decivion in In Re Marriage Cases that denied marriage equality." (Boo to Judge McGuiness, vote him out.)
Our webhost, is a really good deal and is probably having a huge sale on something as we speak. If you're looking for webhosting, I recommend them very much.
